Friday the 13th BikeFest brings |
Police estimate that by mid-morning, about 120,000 people, many on motorcycles, had descended on the townspeople on the lands of Lake Erie, to take part in the last Bike Fest of the year.
Const. Ed Sanchuk of the Norfolk Ontario Provincial Police says hundreds of motorcycles are continuing to roll into town.
There have only been a few law enforcement issues so far.
Sanchuk says there have been a couple of cases of heat stroke, a few alcohol-related arrests, and an incident where a motorcyclist struck a police cruiser parked at a roadblock.
Sanchuk says there is a highly visible police presence, and that officers are there to be sure that everybody has a safe time at Bike Fest.
According to Bike Fest’s website, the event dates back to 1981 when a local man and about 25 friends got together at a Port Dover hotel, and had such a fine time they chose to do it every Friday the 13th.
