London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony |
The Olympics start tomorrow and I could not be more excited. While many details of the opening ceremony are kept under wraps, we know that looks like it will be quite impressive. Give me the queen, some farm animals, and Paul McCartney and I'm really amused.
Reporting of the ceremony creating the begin of games is set to start at 19:30 on NBC on Friday, July 27, 2012. The opening ceremony will include the usual schedule, beginning with receipt of the Head of State, the athletes' parade, speeches by the London Committee of Olympic Games and Paralympic Games and the president of the International Committee Olympic, Olympic anthem and flag, oaths, and the lighting of the torch.
The propose of the starting ceremony is to honor the host country and their customs and culture. This year, Danny Boyle was named artistic director and chose "Isles of Wonder," as the name for the show. He hoped that the "Isles of Wonder salutes and celebrates the exuberant creativity of British genius in an opening ceremony that we hope will be as unpredictable and inventive as the British people. "
Thus far, what we know almost the event promises to be an exciting experience. Television coverage will feature a short film starring Daniel Craig as James Bond. The ceremony itself will include a soundtrack of iconic British music; with the official song is "Survival" by Muse. AR Rahman has also helped to create a Punjabi song for the ceremony to reflect the Indian influence in the UK. The entire ceremony is modeled to resemble the British countryside, including a variety of produce animals, an example of Glastonbury Tor, two mosh pits, and a rain cloud-production. And after all this goodness British, Paul McCartney will close the ceremony with a performance.
The starting ceremony will be the most glamorous event across the pond since the royal wedding, so be sure not to miss.
