The Total Recall remake opens today, starring Kate Beckinsale and directed by her husband Len Wiseman (Underworld), and critics have been pretty mixed so far. Colin Farrell has the hardest job, tho', attractive on the character of Douglas Quaid, originally made famous by a guy named Arnold Schwarzenegger.

So how does the new pile up against the iconic, ultraviolent 1990 sci-fi? We think you might be better to stay home and watch the original, and present why:

1. March> Britain: After a visit to Rekall results of memory implants in blowing the cover of his "true self" Quaid (originally) had to get his ass to Mars. In the remake, the setting is plated to Mars ... The United Federation of Great Britain? Apparently, there are only two places in the future both on Earth: The generic name of the colony (where 99 percent live) and UFB (1 percent of). No more mutants, the red filter tinty, the threat of the absence of oxygen and fun trash the original director Paul Verhoeven.

2. Ridiculous one-liners: Nothing beats a classic Schwarzenegger one-liner, and complete call back is charged with them. Between origins of electronic bugs from nasal cavities, Arnold has his evil wife (Sharon Stone) by deadpanning, "trust that a divorce." All over. But now, we're complete to final chat by Farrell and Bryan Cranston, who, by comparison, is dullsville.

3. Sharon Stone Pretty Much: To be fair, Beckinsale take Doug's wife, Lori kicks butt, too (see below), but this was the role that geeks everywhere took note of the stone. (Verhoeven's too, cast her in Basic Instinct.) She could not fight, but it was her sexy home / upset / happy that left a mark.

4. Hard-R vs. PG-13: The original Arnold was using evil as human shields. Heads exploded. And they did not call it the red planet for nothing. The action of the new version is more like a Call of Duty video game, mostly bloodless, because most of the shoots are robots stupid Quaid.

5. Open Your Mind: The crown jewel for adaptations of stories by Philip K. Dick is still Blade Runner, but the initial recall total (based on Dick's short story "We can hold him for you wholesale") is the most fun. Great ideas mind frakkin 'mixed with deliciously over-the-top enthusiasm, humor, and mutants that grow on the torso people. So have fun!

Of course, you can probably find five reasons with Total Recall 2.0 is an upgrade needed, and you must do exactly that-in the comments.

But we will help you get started with this:

1. It gives Good Wife: Lori Beckinsale is a much larger part of history here, and rocks. Lori not only make the woman but also killer Cranston main executor Beckinsale puts in for the duration of the film. The scene where Lori tighten jumps into an elevator shaft that moves up / down / left / right can be the simplest reason to see the film.
