Nokia today confirmed the closure of its factory in Finland last combined in Salo, Finland, with discussions to come to an end as regards the number of jobs to be cut. In Salo, 780 people will lose their jobs. It was initially speculated that Nokia Salo shutdown would result in 850 layoffs.
No longer can the once-king of mobile boast the words "Made in Finland." Phone final plant was assembled on Wednesday.
This is not surprising - Nokia has informed us in June that he plans to cut 3,700 jobs in Finland as a measure of cost reduction. And the company went even further, saying the overall goal is to cut 10,000 jobs worldwide.
The plant officially closed in September 2012.
